The sky is blue due to a thing known as Raleigh-scattering. Due to blue light particles wavelength, it scatters more compared to other colours when it hits the earths surface after travelling from the sun. This scattering means more blue light particles reach our eye….so we see more blue! This means the sky looks blue.

White light is made up of all other colours, from red to blue. Blue has the longest wavelength of all the colours, so when light passes through the atmosphere, the molecules there are scattered further than all the other colours, making the sky look blue.
