Spots occur when sebaceous glands, or oil glands on our skin become clogged and infected. This leads to swollen, red bumps….spots! Hormones and greasy food can make increase spot occurrence as this can increase the level of sebum, a natural oil produced by the skin. Too much oil means the glands can get clogged and infected more easily 🔴

Spots are an immune reaction to bacteria on your face!
Every inch of our bodies are covered in bacteria and when our pores get blocked, the bacteria infect them! The red bump is due to inflammation, which is your immune system calling the right cells to the area to deal with the infection. The white bit that you squeeze out is dead cells, both your own and dead bacteria.
