I want to help with some of the challenges facing humanity. I also really like learning new things and doing experiments to find out things we didn’t know before about the subject.

I wanted to become a scientist because I like to learn new things, and I like to solve puzzles. As a scientist you never stop learning and there are always new puzzles to be solved. I also wanted to do something that would help people, so that’s why I chose to research the spread of epidemics.

I love to explain what’s going on – I love to be able to look at a bee hive and understand how and why that could evolve. I love looking at an outbreak and trying to work out what happened, and it being a tangled and messy puzzle to solve.
It is also super important to me to make a different to people, and by studying outbreaks, it’s possible to do that!
