If I wasn’t a research scientist I would probably be one of three things:

      1. A science communicator spreading the understanding of science with the general public.
      2. A teacher educating the next generation.
      3. A role in bio-business helping to translate science in to products to improve global quality of life.

All of these combine my interest of science with an aspect of teaching or helping others. For the time being though, I thoroughly enjoy being a research scientist 👨‍🔬

I would probably be a stage manager in a theatre! I love making things, and organising other people, which is what stage managers do.
But I think I would struggle knowing that people were suffering and I wasn’t helping with that. Theatre does help people a lot, but in a different way to science. So I’m very glad I’m a scientist for now ^_^

For my undergraduate degree I studied maths and philosophy, and after completing this I had thought about becoming a philosopher! So either that, or I’d like to work in a zoo, to spend my time surrounded by incredible animals.
