Question: what makes people addicted to drugs

Drug addiction is a very complicated study and not fully understood. We do know that there is a physical reason – most drugs are addictive. They make you sick if you stop taking them, the only way to feel better is to keep taking the drug…its a vicious cycle.

Scientists are also exploring the mental reasons behind addiction too. The brain is a complicated thing and certain people are wired differently. Some may be more prone to addiction because of their environment, their genetics or just because of how their brain works.

The best option of course is to steer clear of recreational drugs, often people who start taking them become addicted very quickly. They may not realise it at first but its a very slippery slope!
