That’s a super interesting question! With a really bad case of flu, the best thing is to try curing the symptoms, trying to lower the fever, reducing the headache. The flu can be very dangerous among elderly people (over 60 years old) who also have other diseaes.
The best way to avoid having bad flu is to get vaccinated! Every year, a new flu vaccine is made available and it is a great vaccine that protects against a few different types of flu! 🙂

The best thing to do is to prevent yourself getting the flu in the first place. Prevention is often much easier than treatment. We have a yearly flu vaccine that can help prevent people getting bad types. The types of flu change each year though so thats why people get it yearly. Usually its older people or people with weak immune systems who need to make sure they get it as it can be deadly. With most healthy people though, a flu will just be unpleasant for a few days.

The best way to ease a flu is to get plenty of bed-rest, keep warm, drink plenty of fluids, eat the right foods to give your immune system the best chance at fighting the virus. If you are tired, dehydrated, cold or malnourished, this can really make it tough for your immune system to keep up as your body will be more concerned with the other issues.

Lots of water, pain killers and sleep! And try not to give it to anyone else.
The flu vaccine is the best way to stop yourself getting it in the first place though, and you need to get a new one every year because of the way that the flu virus evolves (it changes its outsides so our defences can’t recognise it any more!)
