Penguins are able to send more blood to their feet when it gets very cold to keep them heated. They also have a clever system inside of them for blood flow called a counter-current system which helps stop the ice making them colder. Penguins also have an insulting of fat and feathers (called plumage) which helps keep the outside of their feet stay warm too.

Our skin isn’t designed for standing in snow all day but their feet are. The skin of their feet is well adapted for withstanding the icy cold 🐧
