Not specifically. I was always quite keen on science when I was at school. I did biology at university and some of the modules that I enjoyed most covered statistics and infectious diseases. I’m now working on both – my research involves applying statistics to infectious disease data.
While infectious diseases have always interested me, I only started to really learn about them, and how maths can be used to model the spread of diseases, during my masters. Before this I had no idea I would end up researching infectious diseases!
I have always being interested in helping people through public health. I started being interested in Epidemics during the Ebola epidemic in 2014! 🙂
No, not really! It was during university that I found I really enjoyed molecular microbiology and infectious diseases. Before university, it wasn’t taught to me during school so I never even knew my specific field existed.
