I used to really enjoy separating blood into its different cell types – I found it really fun that you could see the white blood cells and scoop them up for further experiments!

My favourite is a plant infection assay. This allows me to understand how good or bad organisms are at infecting plants. I spray or inject bacteria on to plants in a controlled environment. I then analyse the disease symptoms after a while and see how many bacteria made it in to the plant 🌱.
      .
This is really useful as this tells us a lot about plant diseases and we can then do more experiments to understand how the bacteria are able to do this and potential things we could try to stop them 🛑.
