      Untreated, HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and syphilis can all be fatal. The STI that has caused the most deaths is HIV – around 35 million people have died of HIV.

      That being said, I do all of my research from my computer, as I’m a mathematical model, so I’ve never encountered an STI myself in a lab or in person.
