Sometimes there are periods when lab work can become repetitive as you have to do many repeats to ensure your results are accurate but I would say boring is the wrong word. Its a necessary part of the job, I like doing it but I prefer doing new experiments that I have never done before. Getting new and exciting data is very rewarding!

I think every job in the world *sometimes* gets boring, doing scientific research is no exception. For example, I can find computer programming dull sometimes. When it does, I take a walk and think about something else for a while. Luckily, there are so many unanswered questions, and so many problems to be solved, that research never stays boring for long!

Yeah of course, like all jobs! Some days I don’t want to come in, some days I want to start a new project because I can’t work out how to do the one that I’m already doing. But I wouldn’t want to be doing any other job – even if sometimes the day to day is boring, the questions you are trying to find answers to are so fascinating that you can get excited again!

I have to say that is generally very exciting. There are always so many things needed to be done and there is never time to get bored. Sometimes, it can be a bit less interesting than other times, for example, when analysis don’t work well or when I have too work too long in front of my computer. However, most of the time, it is quite exciting and when an epidemic starts, the whole routine changes!
